The Ukulele Project’s passion is to offer fun, engaging, inspiring events for multiply generations where everyone feels welcome and leaves with enormous smiles on their faces having made a friend or two. All whilst raising money to offer more classes and ukuleles to community groups, schools and libraries.

DEAD MAN’s UKE – Dead Mans Uke are an award winning two man band playing dirt swing, hokum and old blues tunes as well as crazy covers and anything else they fancy on double bass and a resonator ukulele that belonged to Tiny Tim… They play shows in bars, music venues, parties, theatres and ARE festival favourites with shows recently across the UK and in Prague, Dublin, Austria, Paris, Berlin, Poland, Bavaria, AUSTRALIA, Las Vegas, Palm Springs and even Saudi Arabia!

“They had the crowd dancing and singing along with originals, old tunes and some unexpected covers – how can 8 strings sound so big?! FANTASTIC FUN, ENERGY and MUSICIANSHIP” Paul Stone, LAS VEGAS PRODUCER

“Don’t miss the dead men live” Will Grove White the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain

ANDREW MOLINA  Hawaii based ukulele virtuoso Andrew Molina proves that the ukulele has no limits. His electrifying performances have captivated audiences around the world including Austria, China, England, Scotland, Ireland, Tahiti and the U.S.A. He performs along with his dad Jay who is a lifelong musician and has performed and recorded with many of Hawaii’s top musical artists. Jay accompanies Andrew on guitarand bass guitar.

Andrew’s 3 albums have all been nominated for “Ukulele Album of the Year” at the prestigious “Na Hoku Hanohano” music awards, ( Hawaii’s version of the Grammys) and he has also been featured on the cover of England’s Uke Magazine. His music has also been featured in video promotions for Hawaiian Airlines and Ocean Organic Farm & Distillery. His music is also featured on certain Hawaiian Airlines flights.

From sweet Hawaiian sounds to his beautifully written original songs to Aerosmith’s “Dream On,” Guns N’ Roses “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” “Stairway To Heaven” and even the “Game of Thrones” theme, Andrew shows that almost anything is possible on the ukulele!

“Andrew Molina is among a new generation of Hawaiian ukulele players taking a global-sized approach to what’s possible on the ukulele” Greg Olwell – Ukulele Magazine

“Andrew Molina is one of my favorite musicians. He works incredibly hard on his craft and approaches the ukulele in such a unique way” Jake Shimabukuro

The first Southern Ukulele Store ‘Ukulele Takeover Day’ is a one day event in Bournemouth’s Absolute Music Centre (home of the Southern Ukulele Store). We will feature performances and workshops from 4 world renowned Ukulele centric acts. Initially, this event was created to bring us an excuse to showcase the infamous talents of Dead Man’s Uke & Andrea and Jay Molina on their August UK tour. We decided to make the event extra special by inviting the world’s first Doctor of the Ukulele ‘Samantha Muir’ and the pioneers of Ukular Fusion ‘The Mother Ukers’. The event runs 12pm-7pm on August 10th and your ticket will give you access throughout the day to the Absolute Music Cafe space for the 4 performances and 3 workshops. Workshop information to be announced but the workshops will be aimed at improvers (advanced beginners if such a thing exists) and intermediate players. Food and drink will not be provided but at the mid-point a local catering company will make an appearance and offer up a small selection of hot food options. Space for this first event is extremely limited. Sadly, we cannot offer free space in the room to non-attendees. If you have any questions please email Alex at alex@ukulele.co.uk

The Half Moon Putney will also include an open mic, a jam and some community performances and will run from 2pm.
