Joining a ukulele club is not only a great way of improving your ukulele playing, but also a brilliant way to meet kindred spirits and make new friends.

Chaddesden Ukulele Players (Derby)

We are a group of ukulele players of all ages and abilities, who meet every week in person and stream our sessions online on Wednesdays and Thursdays. A children’s group also meets on Wednesdays. We play a mix of gospel and secular songs and include a varied programme of teaching too. Our sessions comprise songs, instrumentals, solos, teaching, watching video clips and sharing articles and news of interest to ukulele players. Beginners are always welcome and all our sessions are free.

Since forming in February 2019, we have established ourselves as a performing act at local festivals, celebrations, social clubs and church events. We seek to keep our music interesting to ourselves and our audiences by stretching our skills and by including other instruments too, such as tin whistle, harmonica and clarinet for instrumental breaks and solos. Indeed, many of our members attend our ABRSM Music Theory classes, in order to be able to read music and learn to play these other instruments, as well as expanding their understanding of the ukulele.
