Joining a ukulele club is not only a great way of improving your ukulele playing, but also a brilliant way to meet kindred spirits and make new friends.

Sandwelele Ukulele

Sandwelele Ukulele first met on Tuesday 12th January 2016 at the Walsall Arms in Walsall, an opportunity for a bunch of experienced ukulele players to mix with novices over a pint and a pork pie. With an ethos of welcoming all ranges of ability, the one-chord wonders joined in singing with the more-seasoned members, with the ambition of at least starting and finishing together even if the bit in the middle went slightly awry. Word got around, and the group was able to play a few gigs wearing our own t-shirts and badges with money changing hands, if only to get us to stop! Glastonbury and the Symphony Hall in Birmingham are just two of the venues where we haven’t played. Covid of course caused a hiatus, but the group is now back to playing each Tuesday at 8pm and murdering a selection of tunes from the extensive songbook across a 200 year time period, with 1950s to ’80s our strengths. We do a mean ‘Space Oddity’ and ‘Bat Out Of Hell’ and our ‘Echo Beach’ has to be heard to be believed! A friendly group that welcomes all from 18 to 80 – free to join, just bring money for a drink at the bar!
