The Stokes Bay Strummers formed in 2010 and we played our first gig 15 years ago in 2011. Since then we have played over 550 gigs. We play in Care Homes, W.I meetings, retirement groups, fetes and festivals. Our songs are mainly big hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s, well known and catchy tunes to get audiences singing along and dancing! (Beatles, Kinks, Everly Brothers, Elvis, Buddy Holly, John Denver, Johnny Cash etc). We engage with audiences through banter and the occasional joke between songs to give all round entertainment, generally for an hour. We practice every Tuesday evening at St Faith’s Parish Centre in Lee on the Solent. Our band (around 25) live from Gosport to Hamble on the South Coast and we play our gigs in this area too (and a few miles inland). Numbers for gigs are around 8 to 14 and we regularly introduce new songs to keep things fresh.

We are a very welcoming group and the emphasis is on having fun with good friends. We are very good value to book and to join (just £3 per week to cover room hire)

Each year, we raise money for a different charity and to date have collected nearly £40,000.
