UKE Club Directory

Joining a ukulele club is not only a great way of improving your ukulele playing, but also a brilliant way to meet kindred spirits and make new friends.

Wight Ukers

Wight Ukers formed in April 2014 after a bunch of us did an ‘improvers’ course with a local musician, JC Grimshaw. We’ve something in our repertoire from every decade (including this one) since at least as early as the 1890s, and, while I guess many of the favourites are from the ’20s, ’50s and ’60s, they’re as diverse as 4 non blondes, Paloma Faith and Tankus the Henge. We meet 3 times a week, Wednesday afternoons, Saturday mornings and Monday evenings, though a lot of folks only getting to one weekly meet-up. Visitors from the big island (mainland UK) are very welcome.

We also perform, doing a lot for local charities, but also at the Jaguar Auto Festival, Rhythmtree festival, Ventnor bandstand, plus an assortment of residential care homes, of which there are many on the Island.

We’ve run 3 Isle of Wight Ukulele festivals so far, and are hoping to do one in 2024, for our 10th anniversary.
