Joining a ukulele club is not only a great way of improving your ukulele playing, but also a brilliant way to meet kindred spirits and make new friends.

Ukulele Wednesdays

Ukulele Wednesdays is a friendly, free, and welcoming weekly ukulele jam session that’s been bringing people together in London since 2007. It’s all about having fun, meeting fellow music-lovers, and enjoying the ukulele and singing your heart out — whether you’ve been playing for years or just learned your first chord.

We usually get around 30–40 people each week at our regular spot in the basement of the Royal George pub (133 Charing Cross Road, London). Everyone is welcome! If you only know a couple of chords, that’s absolutely fine — people are always happy to help you along.

We normally start playing at 7:30pm, but lots of people come earlier to grab some food, have a drink, and chat before the music starts.

We’ve also put together a free, open-source songbook with 337 songs, complete with lyrics, chords, and chord diagrams. It’s a good idea to download it to your phone or tablet before you come — but don’t worry if you forget, someone nearby will happily share.

To keep things lively, we’ve got a rhythm section that currently includes bass, cajón, and electric ukulele, adding a great groove and atmosphere to the session.
